Jesus says, in yesterday’s Gospel, if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off, if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off, if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out…
Of course he doesn’t mean it literally. So what does he mean?
…When it comes to sin in our lives, we need to be ruthless in getting rid of it because it is an obstacle to receiving God’s grace, but also to getting into the kingdom.
Hands grasp, but what are our hands grasping on to?
Feet lead us on a path, but what path are we on?
Eyes look for things, but what are our eyes looking for and where are they looking for it?
The only happiness we really find is in God alone.
We need to root out sin in our lives and receive God’s mercy and forgiveness. Jesus gave us the Sacrament of Confession so that it can help with this, it helps to free you!
